What We Do

Spiritual care for those who are dealing with a diagnosis of cancer or other life-threatening illness.

Our intention when we first started to imagine a ministry called, Stage4, was to have multiple ministries under that moniker. Thus, the name, Stage4 Ministries, plural. It was 2017, Steve Marquez had been fighting a stage-four cancer diagnosis while pastoring a small Fellowship in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Pastoring had become difficult. He could still teach the scriptures, but the other aspects of pastoring like, hospital visits, home visits, discipleship classes, providing leadership and vision for the various ministries in the church and outreach were all suffering and starting to become ill like him. It was time for a change.

Steve and his wife, Monica, had been in ministry in some way or another for over 20+ years and even though Steve was gravely ill, they knew there would be something for them in the future. Enter, Stage4 Ministries. It would consist of a Teaching / Evangelism ministry as pastor Steve would speak at various churches, write a book about not only his story but a vehicle to encourage believers who were going through a similar battle as his, and a way to preach the gospel to those who had little to no hope. They could find hope in this life and in the next through a relationship with Jesus Christ. There would be a small group ministry based upon the book and a study guide. It eventually became known as, Solace groups. Next, it would consist of a way to provide physical help through gifts like Carebags for Chemo Patients, which will grow as much as God desires and will eventually have a name. Looking to the future, we would like a marriage ministry to encourage those whose marriages have been weakened by the stress of life-threatening illness.

If you or someone you know are fighting an illness that and have been suffering under the stress of such an enormous battle, please contact us and let us know how we could serve you. At Stage4 Ministries, our ultimate Goal is the following:

LISTEN

Is it hard for people to “get” what you are going through? At Stage4 Ministries, we get it. We listen to you with compassion and empathy. We want to hear your story. Join a Solace group. Don’t have one at your church? Let your pastor know you’d like to start one at your church. Send him this link: Solace.

encourage

It is vitally important for us as we go through difficult situations in life, like a cancer diagnosis, to stay encouraged; and it is incredibly easy to slip into discouragement. That is why we want to be a source of encouragement to those who are suffering.

pray

There is nothing more powerful than prayer and nothing more neglected than prayer. As human beings, we have a tendency to do everything we can to solve our problems, then finally, in an act of desperation, we say, “All we can do is pray.” In reality, the first thing we should do is pray. It is in acknowledging God’s incredible power and compassion coupled with His willingness to supply wisdom, understanding and healing.
